Christine was born in Calgary, Alberta, but spent most her life in southern Ontario. She attended Western University as an undergraduate student and moved to the University of Toronto for graduate studies. She obtained a M.Sc. degree with Professor Vy Dong working on rhodium-catalyzed hydroacylation and pursued a Ph.D. in the group of Professor Mark Lautens. During her time there, she developed new methods for the synthesis of vinyl halides using palladium catalysis with funding provided by the NSERC Julie Payette and Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarships. As an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow, Christine pursued training in the area of chiral anion catalysis in the lab of Professor F. Dean Toste at UC Berkeley. In 2020, Christine returned back to Canada to start her independent career at York University.
